What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I play a role in both team and project management. I start my day by following up with the team on administrative tasks and meeting with them to see their progress and help them with any issues that arise. In general, I attend many meetings per day with my team members and with stakeholders of each project. In addition to the meetings, I perform administrative and operational tasks, which often include communications with the team and clients.

How do you explain your job to family, friends, or children?

I explain to them that I am a project manager and that this means leading and managing the different projects, as well as their members, in following up on the tasks they perform. I support and help solve inconveniences that may impede the correct progress of the projects, as well as give them a hand in the problems they have. It is not only of a work nature, but also personal.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I consider the biggest difference I make is through my soft skills. I always try to foster a culture of good communication, empathy, and transparency. I like that together with the teams we obtain successful results and add value to the deliverables. This has been achieved through honesty, commitment, understanding, effort, and teamwork. I always try to find more effective ways of doing tasks that focuses on the important human aspect of things.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

A specific achievement that makes me personally and professionally proud are the projects that I have been assigned as PM or SM. I have been chosen to lead complex projects, and they have trusted me and my work by giving me the responsibility to move teams and projects forward. I have been recognized by my colleagues, and by the teams I lead and the stakeholders with whom I interact daily. Every day I am growing and learning, and this has been reflected in the recognition I receive from my colleagues.

What has your experience at Perficient taught you?

The Perficient community teaches me all the time to persevere, believe in myself, stand up for myself, and to be confident that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. I have learned to trust my presence in front of the teams. Also, I have learned to be open to changes, to make decisions without doubting my judgment, and to make mistakes without fear. This support and encouragement are in addition to all the tools that I am given every day to improve the management of teams and projects.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their career with Perficient?

The best advice I can give is to always be open to learning better ways to do the job. This may mean having to learn things over again, but you must be open to making mistakes to succeed.
