On March 23rd we knew something was brewing in the Google algorithm and on March 24th and 25th our Rank Risk Index showed a spike.
Is something warming up on #Google? http://t.co/snRFayNNi6 #rankindex

Now the question is, what happened?
There are many ideas going around particularly on Webmaster World, however nobody is quite sure since Google has not made any statements and Matt Cutts certainly hasn’t told us anything.
So this is what we know, recently Google has taken action against a number of link networks and certain sites have been hit hard with this, many have been given warnings to check their backlinks and clean them up. We know that many webmasters have been seeing changes, some for the better and some for the worse, but not all of them are major changes. Right now we can speculate that there was a minor update in the Google algorithm and we may or may not be privy to the reasons and effects of the update.
If you watch this Google Webmasters video, it seems unlikely we’ll get any explanation for this minor update.
